In 1949 motivational writer and speaker, Charles Simmons, bought the property and started a summer camp for children. Edward Keith financed improvements to the property in the 50’s and then bought out the other developers in the 60s. For years the Keith family operated a Summer Camp, a not-for-profit organization, that encouraged boys and girls from all socio-economic backgrounds to learn about ranch living, horseback riding, boating, fishing, water sports, archery and arts and crafts.

The Summer Camp operated in the spirit of wonder, inclusion, respect for our environment, and a love for the great outdoors.
